Substitute Teacher Associate/Aide

For those of you who don’t want to go back to work, but are interested in getting out of the house a little I might have an idea for you. Call your school districts administrative office and see if they have substitute teacher aides or associates. I didn’t even know that existed until an e-mail went around talking about how desperate our district was for them.

Where I live you don’t need a teaching degree, or even a college degree. It’s pretty simple, just like any part-time job application with a bit more background info. I think it’s a great option for Moms with kids in school, since you always have the option to take or reject a job.

I’m sure not everywhere works the same as where I’m at, but I thought I would mention it because it might be something for some of you to look into. I did my first subbing today and I *loved* it! Of course, it was similar to what I do when I volunteer, so it was easy to step in. :) I can’t wait to do it again!

What do you do when you can’t help your Child?

I know I am not the only person who has a child who is “different”. I hate using that word, but it’s the only way to put it. I’m talking not just about physical differences, but AD/HD, learning disabilities, etc. There are so many of you out there, how is it that often we all […]

Girls, Boys, those darn tweens again!

Oh boy - it just keeps getting worse!
My son and his friend went roller skating Friday night, and came home joking about how many girls phone numbers they each got. I just about died, until they confessed they were just kidding - in part. It turns out my sons friend started “going out” with a […]

Going Out - in 5th Grade!

My son turned 11 about a month ago. I thought I was happy, until I realized that he was a tween. Yes, a tween. In case you don’t know what that is, it’s that stage between a kid and a teen. While it sounds innocent enough, it isn’t. It sounds cute, […]
